MELT! FESTIVAL
Music Party under the Heavy Metal at German "Iron City"
Laser lights, pounding music rhythms and heavy machinery. What better
place to have a rock music festival than in a rock quarry. One of the
hottest European music shows and more unique open air alternative music
events festivals gaining popularity in Germany the Melt!
Festival has been happening in a former industrial site
at Ferropolis (iron city) at the town of Grafenhainichen in the former
east, about an hour south from Berlin for the
past ten years. The music show takes place over a three day weekend in
July when the night is filled with high energy techno light shows and
high energy music bouncing off the hulking metal of arms of heavy monster
equipment. More than 80 live acts, 6 stages and dance floors with DJs
under the massive machinery of this open pit iron mine. For 2009 July 17th-19th the Festival acts included -Baby, Delphic, Drop the Lime, Circlesquare DJ-Set, The Dodos, Radio Slave, The Cheapers, Andreas Eckhardt, Kleinschmager Audio, Lars Christian Müller, Daniel Stefanik, Miss Bliss & A.N.N.A. and a whole lot more. The music pounding beneath the arching cranes of mining equipment seems worth the trip to Germany for a one of a kind experience. The music starts at 5 pm and goes until almost midnight.
Tickets can be purchased online and printed at home, validated on site. . Prices range from 50 Euro for a one day ticket to 100 Euro for three days. To find your way to the festival head to Berlin’s Tegel airport. Take the A9 toward Leipzig. Tours with hotel accommodation transportation and flights from London can also be arranged through Cool Tours who will also arrange for shuttle bus transportation. © Bargain Travel Europe
