TAKE A COOKING CLASS HOLIDAY IN UMBRIA
La Volpe e L’Uva - The Fox and Grapes Farm
Want to see
life in Italy from the relaxed view of an historic farmhouse? What
better way to explore Italian country-life than a holiday stay at
an Umbrian farm “agritourismo”. The agritourismo is the Italian
version of a bed & breakfast. They can be found all over the well
trod regions of Tuscany and Italy’s farming lands. Umbria is the
hilly region of central Italy to the east of its more publicized neighbor
Tuscany. It was in these golden hills of the lower Apennines north of
the
Tiber dotted it olive tree groves where Mark Anthony was crushed
by Octavian Caesar later Augustus to begin the half Millennia of the Roman
Empire and the region’s capital Perugia sacked. Perugia recovered
from its punishment for supporting Anthony and 2,000 years later the
olives still grow ripe in the late autumn, picked by hand and pressed
to release the golden oil which flavors Italian cooking. A family farm
just outside Perugia offers a relaxed vacation stay to learn Italian
cooking in the Umbrian style while enjoying this region surrounded
by history.
The La Volpe e L’Uva
(The Fox and the Grapes) farm agritourismo just outside of Perugia
in the
hills of Umbria offers cooking class holidays,
Italian cooking lessons combined with touring the regions sights and
culture. The farm produces its own olive oil, wine and fruit. The original
farmhouse dates from the 17th Century set in sloping land surrounded
by olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees, just 4 kilometers from the
historic center of Perugia. The apartments in a converted two story
farm building are decorated in teak wood and rich colors. A swimming
pool
in the yard overlooks the hills of what has been called the green heart
of Italy.
The
La Volpe e L’Uva farm
has 5 holiday apartments for stays of four to seven nights. Learn cooking
hands-on from chef
Stephania
in the Umbrian home cooking style in the kitchen of the farm’s
owner Rafaella. The cooking classes are held for groups from two
to six.
After the
cooking classes you can arrange your holiday to explore the surrounding
historic
and beautiful lands of Tuscany and Umbria, visiting the towns of
Siena, medieval Assisi and Arezzo.
The proprietors will arrange a rental car
which will be delivered to the farm, or provide a group tour with
a guide in the farm’s Mini-Van. Cooking classes for children,
featuring healthy eating are offered as well. In November, you can
participate
in the olive harvest on the farm and the programs are offered with
a 15% discount in November and December. © Bargain
