BEECH HILL HOTEL
Views on the Shores of Lake Windermere
In
the heart of England’s
North Lake District of Cumbria Lake Windermere is the largest of the
lakes nestled in a long valley in the
Lake District National Park. The constantly changing mood of the seasons
is reflected in the narrow strip of calm water with the tree grown hills
on the banks. No matter the season the lake maintains a unique character
and beauty. The Beech Hill Hotel is set on the eastern shore of Lake
Windermere, with one of the best lake views, quiet and serene, a short
drive south from the central
tourist village of Bowness-on-Windermere
with its ferry docks and curio shops. The
feeling of a warm inviting country lodge along the road way which winds
along the lake shore draws
you to stop and doesn’t disappoint. In the summer the long lakeside
terrace is bathed in sunlight and in the winter the large windows allow
the enjoyment of the view by the warmth of a roaring fire log, with Cumbria’s
most prominent peak of “Coniston Old Man” ever in view. The
hotel’s own private pier and indoor heated swimming pool allows
enjoying the water in all seasons.
With
58 rooms and three levels of accommodation – Premier, Select
and Standard, the Beech Hill Hotel can fit all levels of guests. Rates
are from £59 midweek off-season to £84 high-season weekends
for standard rooms with supplements of £10 to £40 for select
and premium rooms. Most all of the rooms at the Beech Hill have full
or partial lake views while the upper levels of rooms are larger and
most have four poster beds and additional services,
like bath robes,
flowers and spa baths. For
special celebration or a romantic getaway packages of flowers, champagne
and chocolates can be arranged. The romantic
lake view Burlington Restaurant, popular with locals as well as hotel
guests has earned two rosettes from the AA for its seasonal menu of local
produce and 3 stars from the British Tourism Council. The Beech Hill
can get booked up during high seasons. They require reserving a minimum
of two nights on weekends and three on Bank Holidays.
The Beech Hill Hotel can be reached by car from the M6 Motorway at junction
36 along the A592 between Bowness-on-Windermere and Newby Bridge. By
Rail transfer at Oxenholme Station on the main line from Euston to Glasgow
to Windermere and the hotel is 15 minutes by taxi. © Bargain
