BERLIN
FILM FESTIVAL
Berlinale in February
The Berlinale Film Festival presents over 400 films from all over the world in various movie theaters and other special venues during ten days every February. Begun in 1951 from the rubble of the second world war and first opened with Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rebecca” Along with Cannes and Venice, the Berlin Film Festival is one of the most important of the international showcases with almost 200,000 tickets sold to the public. Where Cannes is mostly open to only invitees, the Berlin Festival (Intenationale Festspiele Berlin) is one of the largest festivals of cinema open to anyone who loves film. For film professionals, the European Film Market (EFM) held in conjunction with the Berlin Festival has also become an important stop on the film market sales circuit. Berlin is the first film sales market on the annual calender and easily attended by European and International film buyers and sellers. The Berlin Co-Production Market is an opportunity for film producers to meet and assemble projects, and the Berlin Talent Campus allows young up and coming film-makers to make their presence known to the cinema world.

a bargain compared to other big European cities or the gouge of
