EIGER EXHIBIT AT GRINDELWALD MUSEUM
Climbing & Winter Sports History in the Jungfrau
Opening for the summer season in July of 2013, to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the first successful climb of the North Face of the Eiger, the local Museum of Grindelwald present a new Eiger North Face exhibit. The exhibit features climbing gear and clothing as well as photographs and documents, as well as an emotional listening room experience, dedicated to the history of the climbs of the Eiger peak. The Eiger exhibit is located on the entrance floor of the museum.
Also at the Museum of Grindelwald which is located right next to the village church, is a collection of exhibits featuring history winter sports clothing and gear, local history, handicrafts of the Swiss Alpine, agriculture, and an exhibit on the fascinating story of the Jungfrau Railways (Bernese Oberland Railway, Wengernalpbahn, Jungfrau Railway), which dug a tunnel through the solid stone of the triumvirate mountain massif of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau to the Jungfraujoch, the highest train station in the world (see Jungfraujoch Railway).
