GERMAN FAIRY TAIL MUSEUM
In the Footsteps of the Brothers Grim

But the trail of the real Fairy Tale giants can be found at the German Fairy Tale Museum (Deutches Marchen und Wesersagenmuseum) in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, where those passionate about fairy tales can obtain a map of the two literary brothers travels of inspiration North from their hometown of Hanau on the Main River northeast of Frankfurt (see Brothers Grimm in Hanau 200 Years) to the ancient university city of Göttingen, up the Weser River to Hamlen and whence the Pied Piper played, up to Hansiatic Bremen. Follow the Trail of the Brothers Grimm though a lush land of Red-Riding Hoods and Sleeping Beauty’s half-wood fairytale Gingerbread houses and village squares. Footpaths and cycle trails along the way take you through a world of fairytales where childhood dreams of daring princes, dwarfs and enchanting fairies. To take the Fairy Tale Route, one of the oldest tourist paths in Germany you can start in almost any town along the trail with follows the Weser River and work your way in either direction (see German Fairy Tale Road).

Bad Oyenhausen Mineral SpaBad Oeynhausen is on the direct rail route between Hannover and Cologne, so an easy stop the trail. And the city gets it name as home to the Federal Spa, one of the oldest and most luxurious carbonbated hot water springs of the glorious Imperial 1800’s. The first thermal salt water spring in Bad Oeynhausen was discovered in 1845. The Jordansprudel is the world's largest thermal saltwater spring, with fountains that reach heights of up to 40 metres when there's no wind.
