70TH ANNIVERSARY NORMANDY D-DAY TOURS
Guided WWII European Liberation Events
The year 2014 is a big year for war touring in Europe. This year will mark 70 years since the most significant wartime events in France, Belgium and Holland during the Second World War. From the Longest Day landings on the beaches of Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge, the second half of 1944 presented so much of the story of American and Allied fighting in northern Europe. Anniversary events will be held all across the region, from massive ceremonies of the D-Day landings attended by heads of state to celebrations in the smallest villages of the Alsace, from St Mere Eglise on the Normandy coast to Pfaffenhoffen on the edge of the Rhine. Not to mention the departure and training sites in Britain. You can head to the continent and follow your own trail of the march of armies, or you can join an organized tour.
Tours International has been operating tours for veterans, their families and World War Two enthusiast since 1987. They are the official tour operators for several military units. To celebrate the events of 70 years ago, they are offering a choice of three and insightful commemorative tours. 5 Day and 8 Day Tours feature all the key sites of the Normandy Beach Landings plus attendance at the significant ceremonies, and a 14 Day extended tour continues on to the sites of the Battle of Bulge. The longer tours begin in England from the underground bunkers of the Churchill War Rooms, (see Churchill War Bunker) to the St Paul's Cathedral and the American Memorial Chapel, to the tank museum of Bovington and the Imperial war Museum.
