MAKE IT A DAY IN PARIS!
London to Paris Day Trip by Eurostar Chunnel Train
Never been to Paris, but you’re going to London. Can you make a trip to Paris and back in a day without too much planning? Take a tour of the city, visit the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, or even Versailles, stroll the boulevards for a little shopping, cruise the Seine River, or become Bohemian for an afternoon on Montmartre, and still be back in London for a nightcap toddy? Sure you can, but forget flying, take the Eurostar high speed train from St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord with a round trip and a sightseeing tour package from RailEurope.
Easy Day Trip to Paris
The rail packaging group offers a few different variations of the London to Paris Day Trip by train, from a simple Easy Day round trip of travel on the Eurostar and a full day pass for the Paris Hop-On Hop Off open top bus tour, with plenty of time to explore the City of Light on your own, with breakfast served on the train in the morning and dinner on the return (in First Class). The trip departs at 8:13 am and returns about 9:40 pm. Prices start at about $280 for Second Class and $500 for First Class, Children are a little less.
Paris Tour from London by Eurostar w/ Versailles
Seine Cruise or Versailles Tour
For a next step up, the Paris Paradise tour version adds a semi-guided panoramic motor coach tour of the city, plus a guided visit to the Eiffel Tower (avoiding the lines), a walking tour including a ticket to the Louvre Museum (or the Musee D’Orsay on Tuesdays) and an afternoon Seine River Cruise (see Cruising the Seine). Or if you can’t imagine going to Paris without seeing the glorious Versailles Palace, the Versailles Day Trip offers a guided motor coach tour of the Paris sights and a trip to Versailles (instead of the river cruise and Louvre). And if one day in the lover’s city isn’t enough the One Night in Paris adds an overnight stay in a 3-star hotel with the next full day all to yourself to explore the districts and wonders of Paris before the return to London.
Eurostar High Speed Tunnel Train
All these Day Trip to Paris Tours from RailEurope include the scenic travel on the Eurostar High Speed “bullet” train, with the scenery of south England and France whizzing by the windows on the all-too-quick trip between the capitals. You’ll need passports, and reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. Plan to arrive at the Eurostar International Terminal at St Pancras early. The tours run Monday to Saturday (the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays). You could arrange individual Eurostar tickets for a round trip, without the tours, but in the end you’ll end up adding those back, plus taxis, etc. without the convenience of having them ready at hand.
If you’re doing the overnight trip, you could consider adding a Paris Pass (see Paris Sightseeing Pass), depending on how many paid admission sites you want to see. If you just want to wander the avenues and shop, and lounge in the cafes to soak up the Parisian style, then not so much.
